It has become almost expected that every boy band nowadays must include at least one gay member in their lineup. However, back in the late 20th century, such assumptions were limited to mere rumors. In 1999, when Stephen Gately from Boyzone was publicly revealed as gay by the tabloids, it shattered the veil of secrecy surrounding the matter. Eventually, other boy band members like Jonathan Knight from New Kids On The Block, Lance Bass from NSYNC, Duncan James from Blue, and Mark Feehily from Westlife also came out. Boyzone had been one of Europe’s most popular pop acts during the 90s. After releasing his solo album “New Beginnings” in 2000, Gately reunited with the band for successful reunion tours and new music. Unfortunately, his untimely and shocking death due to heart disease occurred in 2009.
