Bob Mould, the visionary behind groundbreaking bands Hüsker Dü and Sugar, deserves much more recognition as an LGBTQ+ icon in the music industry. While Hüsker Dü, alongside influential groups like Minutemen and The Replacements, revolutionized American punk in the 80s, Mould remained determined to forge a distinctive sound in the 90s with Sugar. Their success and critical acclaim paralleled that of esteemed bands like Archers Of Loaf, Sebadoh, and Jawbox. Beyond his musical prowess, Mould fearlessly came out as gay during a candid interview with Spin magazine in 1990. Furthermore, he played a pivotal role in advocating for same-sex marriage legalization throughout the United States by spearheading the WEDRock concert in 2004, which raised an astounding sum of money.
